40 million tons of goods have already been exported from the ports of Odesa
Since the start of operation of the Ukrainian maritime corridor, about 40 million tons of cargo, including 26 million tons of grain, have been exported from the ports of Great Odesa.
This was announced by the Deputy Prime Minister for the Reconstruction of Ukraine – the Minister of Communities, Territories and Infrastructure Development Oleksandr Kubrakov at the USA-Ukraine 2024 Partnership Forum.
According to him, over the past two years, Ukraine has strengthened export routes and increased export volumes.
Thus, the Ukrainian maritime corridor through the Black Sea allowed the export of about 40 million tons of cargo, including 26 million tons of grain.
In turn, in the first quarter of 2024, the ports of the Danube cluster handled more than 5.6 million tons of cargo, including 4 million tons for export.
“Despite all the challenges, we feel the support of the US government and the American private sector. We recently announced support for the US Export-Import Bank. It is about financing the purchase of about 40 diesel locomotives for Ukrzaliznytsia. This is critically important for our exports,” said Oleksandr Kubrakov during the forum.
He also emphasized that work is underway to ensure that Ukrainian exports reach global markets, and that Ukraine not only preserves, but also creates new jobs. All these are key components of economic stability in the face of growing Russian military aggression.
As previously reported by USM, since the beginning of April, Ukraine exported 3.5 million tons by sea.
