According to the results of 2023, Ukrzaliznytsia transported 148.4 million tons of cargo in all types of connections.

Since the start of operation of the Ukrainian maritime corridor, 8.8 million tons of cargo have been transported in the direction of the Black Sea ports. This is 8.6% more than in the same period of 2022, when the grain corridor was operating, Yevhen Lyashchenko, Chairman of the Board of JSC “Ukrzaliznytsia”, reported.

“In December 2023, we reached a record unloading of 3.8 million tons for Black Sea ports since the beginning of the full-scale invasion. Also, the railway increased the volume of transportation in the direction of the Danube ports by almost 33%, in particular through transit through Moldova and Romania,” Lyashchenko noted.

In general, from March to December 2023, UZ transported on average 23% more cargoes per month than in the same period of 2022.

The UZ noted that now, due to the temporary occupation of part of the territory, the UZ cannot reach the freight transportation indicators that were before the full-scale invasion. But after the opening of the Ukrainian sea corridor and ports, it was possible to increase transportation for export.

The indicators of domestic transportation increased most noticeably last year. Compared to 2022, they increased by 11.4% to 84.8 million tons.
