On the Dniester and Turunchuk rivers, the movement of small fleets can be allowed

Currently, projects of routes for the movement of small vessels along the Dniester and Turunchuk rivers should be developed. After that, they will need to be coordinated with the military and border guards.

On Monday, April 17, a meeting was held with the participation of the Black Sea Interregional Administration of the Shipping Administration. During the meeting, they discussed ways to solve problematic issues of the activity of the small fleet on the Dniester and Turunchuk rivers, Odesa Regional Administration reports.

“It is necessary to develop projects that will allow the movement of small vessels along these waterways. We strive to find the optimal formula, within the framework of the law, which would help to promote the development of enterprises in the segment of recreational and tourist activities this year, with compliance and consideration of all safety standards,” the message reads.

In the near future, specialists together with the heads of communities should develop a project of recreational and tourist routes. After that, it must be coordinated and approved with the military command and the border service.

As previously reported by the USM, due to martial law restrictions have been in place since April 2022, making it impossible for boats to move on most of the rivers. In January 2023, the Verkhovna Rada’s transport committee proposed giving the Shipping Administration the authority to suspend river shipping during a state of war or emergency.
