Grain from Ukraine: a ship with Ukrainian grain arrived in Yemen
As part of the Grain from Ukraine initiative, the ship Negmar Cicek delivered humanitarian cargo – 30,000 tons of wheat – to the port of Salif in the Republic of Yemen.
This is the sixth batch of grain within the Grain from Ukraine initiative, the website of the President of Ukraine notes. The shipment of this batch of Ukrainian grain to Yemen was supported by the UN World Food Program (WFP), as well as thanks to the financial assistance of the governments of the USA, France and Spain.
“Our humanitarian program Grain from Ukraine, which we implement together with our partners, already helps millions of people in the countries most affected by hunger and confirms Ukraine’s global role as a guarantor of world food security,” President Volodymyr Zelenskyy emphasized.
According to Zelensky, 30,000 tons of Ukrainian grain will help about 1.7 million Yemenis feed their families for at least a month. Similar steps within the humanitarian program Grain from Ukraine were taken by Ukraine together with partners to support African countries, in particular Ethiopia, Somalia and Kenya.
