Ukraine loses a significant profit due to the ban on the export of grain

Due to the ban on the export of agricultural products to neighboring countries, Ukraine will suffer significant losses. In general, Poland, Romania, Hungary and Slovakia accounted for 28% of all Ukrainian grain exports.

According to the customs service, the total export of Ukrainian agricultural products in the first quarter of 2023 amounted to 6.75 billion dollars. At the same time, grain exports to Poland during this period amounted to 652 million dollars — almost 10%. Exports to Hungary amounted to 268 million dollars — another 4%. The ban on sending Ukrainian grain to these countries leads to significant financial losses for our state. This was announced by the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Finance, Tax and Customs Policy, Danylo Hetmantsev.

Export losses will be even greater if Romania and Slovakia join the embargo. Thus, in the first quarter of 2023, Poland, Hungary, Romania and Slovakia accounted for 28% of all Ukrainian agricultural exports.

We will remind, according to the results of 2022, Romania became the second country after Poland in terms of export value of Ukrainian grain. Grain exports to Romania increased almost 700 times, and the country itself imported 1/7 of all Ukrainian grain.
