All Ukrainian fishing vessels will be equipped with remote control devices
On April 21, President Zelenskyy signed Law No. 7616 on improving state regulation in the field of fisheries, conservation and rational use of aquatic biological resources, and the field of aquaculture.
The law initiates the most extensive changes in fisheries since the time of independent Ukraine, the State Fisheries Agency noted.
The document is designed to introduce innovative methods of public administration and modern mechanisms of digitalization of the fishery sector by:
• creation of the Unified state electronic management system of the industry;
• introduction of the very mechanism of declaring the right to fishing in electronic form;
• creation of prerequisites for the traceability of the origin of aquatic biological resources;
• providing all fishing vessels without exception with means of remote control;
• unification of all types of special use of aquatic biological resources for scientific purposes;
• establishment of legislative requirements for fishing points, as a significant lever for accounting for caught aquatic biological resources and products from them;
• regulation of lease relationships and simplification of the procedure for leasing hydrotechnical facilities for aquaculture, etc.
According to the head of the State Fisheries Agency, Ihor Klymenok, this European integration document is aimed at creating favorable conditions for conducting fishing business in Ukraine. It is extremely important for the systematic reformation of fisheries. The law will make it possible to radically change the situation in the industry and become an impetus for its development.
