Ban on entry into EU ports: details of the new package of sanctions for russian federation
The European Union is discussing the mechanism of sanctions against third countries that help russian federation to evade them. In particular, the new package of sanctions may clarify existing bans on entry into EU ports.
The main goal of the new 11th package of EU sanctions is to keep countries from helping russia and suppress trade channels that moscow can use, writes Bloomberg.
If this approach does not work, the bloc will have the option of imposing targeted restrictions on key goods as a second step. In particular, the European Union plans to expand the scope of several existing export measures and ban the transit of many goods through russian federation.
“Also, the EU is likely to clarify the rules on existing bans on entry into EU ports and bans on the use of port services, as well as guidance on ship-to-ship transfers,” the sources said.
As previously reported by USM, Poland proposed to introduce new sanctions against russia. The new restrictions concern, in particular, the import of pipeline oil and diamonds.
