Turkey does not exclude the termination of the “Grain Agreement” after May 18

The press secretary of the President of Turkey said that the work of the Black Sea Initiative may stop on May 18.

The meeting of representatives regarding the further fate of “Grain Initiative” will take place on May 5. If the meeting does not yield positive results, shipments of Ukrainian grain may stop. This was stated by Ibrahim Kalin, the press secretary of the President of Turkey.

According to him, the meeting of the delegations of Ukraine, Turkey and russia is of great importance for the future work of the “grain corridor”.

For his part, the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, reported that he did not see russia’s interest in extending the Agreement. Instead, Ukraine hopes for the implementation of the agreement on the “Grain Initiative” by its partners in the UN and Turkey.

“Regarding the grain initiative, we have a clear agreement with António Guterres, the Secretary General of the UN, and with the President of Turkey, Erdogan. Our arrangements are ongoing. We plan to continue our initiative. For their part, they have a conversation with the russian side, they should agree with them on the extension of this corridor, which is so necessary for other countries of the world. Just like many of us,” Zelenskyy said.

Recently, USM wrote that the UN offers a Turkish bank to become a mediator in the “grain deal”.
