Gas production in russia fell by 10%
In the first quarter of 2023, russian gas production fell by 10% compared to the same period in 2022.
The volume of gas production in russian federation in the first quarter of 2023 fell to 180 billion cubic meters. This indicator is 10% lower than in the same period of 2022. Russian mass media write about it.
At the same time, in March, the volume of russian gas production also fell by approximately 10% to 61 billion cubic meters. Gazprom accounted for the largest decline in production. Because of this, since the beginning of the year, the company has stopped disclosing gas production statistics altogether.
The volume of production of the remaining gas producers in the first quarter decreased by 18% to 117 billion cubic meters. In March, this indicator fell to 39 billion cubic meters.
“Gazprom Neft” also significantly reduced the production of raw materials. Thus, in the first quarter of the year, the volume of oil production fell by 18% to 8.6 billion cubic meters. In March, the production of the russian monopolist fell by 22% to 2.3 billion cubic meters.
The decline in production in russia is a consequence of the gradual withdrawal of EU countries from energy sources from russian federation. Currently, Gazprom is trying to increase supplies to China, but these volumes are incomparable with previous supplies to Europe, analysts of the Last Capitalist initiative note.
Gas prices in Europe remain relatively low. At the same time, Gazprom is actually deprived of the opportunity to increase exports in this direction, because the Yamal-Europe and Nord Stream gas pipelines are not functioning.
