Frigate “Venus”: the locksmith won the ship model sports championship

The locksmith of the Odesa Port Plant repair workshop became the winner of the Championship of Ukraine in model ship sports.
Valery Kharet, an employee of JSC “Odesa Port Plant”, mechanic of mechanical assembly works of the repair shop, became the winner of the Championship of Ukraine in model ship sports. He modeled the 18-gun Venus frigate.
“He won the first place and the gold medal in the competition among the models of section “C” – large-scale models, accurate technical designs, and details of ships. The championship was held in Kyiv,” they said on the Odesa Port Plant Facebook page.
Valery Kharet is also preparing for the World Championship, which will be held in the fall of 2023 in the Czech Republic.
He adds new parts to the frigate model, sheathes the sides with copper, and also makes the bow figure of the ship.
Certificate. Valery Kharet is a member of the Federation of Ship Modeling and Ship Model Sports of Ukraine, master of sports of Ukraine, prize winner of the World, European, and Ukrainian Championships in ship model sports.
Professionally engaged in ship modeling since 2016. He created copies of a Dutch yacht, a battleship, a Danish schooner and a French frigate.
At the 2021 European Championship, the model of the frigate “La Venus” of the 1782 model took third place.
As previously reported by USM, a 1912-built sailing ship De Tukker, which was renovated by a Dutch startup, is carrying a cargo of chocolate from Amsterdam.
