“Ukrzaliznytsia” almost reached the pre-war indicators of cargo transportation
Currently, “Ukrzaliznytsia” is working as much as possible to increase the volume of exports through the western border crossings.
Valery Tkachev, Deputy Director of the Department of Commercial Work of JSC “Ukrzaliznytsia” shared this result at the Grain Ukraine conference.
“Today, the railway is able to transport many times more grain. If before the war we transported 3.5 – 4 million tons of grain per month, at the beginning of the war the figures dropped to 1 million tons. Thanks to the unlocking of the Grain Corridor, we have already reached an almost pre-war volume of transportation. The railway is ready to transport cargo,” the expert said.
Tkachev also noted that in 2022-23, agricultural products will become the largest cargo for rail transportation.
“Let’s work. We are ready to transport more both in the direction of the sea ports and in the direction of the western borders,” Tkachev summarized.
Valery Tkachev also said that the level of cargo containerization in the EU is now approximately 35%, while in Ukraine it is 4%. The transportation of goods in containers will be a future priority for UZ.
We previously reported that the process of unloading grain from wagons in the ports of Great Odesa has accelerated. At the same time, the volume of unloading fell in the port of Izmail.
