A bulk carrier with a record deadweight arrived at the port of Reni

On Wednesday, June 14, Port Reni received a bulk carrier with a record deadweight. For ports on the Danube, this is the first such vessel in the entire history of independent Ukraine.

The Blue Gate bulk carrier with a record deadweight of 24,000 tons is being loaded in the Rheny port, USPA reported.

For the Danube ports, this is the first dry cargo of such capacity in the entire history of independent Ukraine.

USPA noted that in the future, to increase the volume of transshipment through the Danube ports, it is necessary to:

• increase the tonnage of the fleet;

• increase the intensity of ship calls;

• carry out technical “re-equipment” of capacities.

According to preliminary data, this year investments in infrastructure projects of ports on the Danube will exceed $110 million.

USM previously reported that the Port of Reni set an all-time transshipment record in May. The port handled 1 million tons of cargo.

Port operators also achieved their historical records. Thus, State Enterprise “Reniya Sea Trade Port” handled about 350,000 tons of cargo, LLC “SK Accord” – more than 100,000 tons.

In general, 391 vessels were processed in the port in May: 134 — sea, 257 — river.
