The European Parliament recognized the terrorist attack on the HPP as a Russian war crime
Deputies of the European Parliament recognized the blowing up of the Kakhovska HPP dam as another war crime of the Russian Federation.
During the plenary session of the European Parliament in Strasbourg, which takes place before the EU summit, the deputies condemned the terrorist attack by the Russians at the Kakhovska HPP.
“We are talking about the destruction of the dam in Ukrainian Nova Kakhovska, a war crime committed by Russia, which will have consequences. They called on the EU to continue strong support for Ukraine, to introduce new sanctions against the Russian Federation and to direct billions of frozen financial assets of Russian oligarchs to the reconstruction of Ukraine,” the European Parliament said in a statement.
At the same time, the International Criminal Court (ICC) in The Hague may bring new charges against Putin when the investigation into the disaster at the Kakhovska HPP is completed.
Prosecutors will investigate the case as an attack on the civilian infrastructure of Ukraine.
As previously reported by USM, on the night of June 6, 2023, the Russians blew up the Kakhovska HPP dam.
