Russia rejected the UN’s request for access to the flooded Kherson region
The government of the Russian Federation rejected the request for UN access to the part of the Kherson region that was flooded as a result of the explosion of the Kakhovska HPP.
Denise Brown, coordinator of humanitarian issues in Ukraine, informed about the obstruction of UN activities, writes Ukrinform.
“The government of the Russian Federation has currently rejected our request for access to the territories that are under its temporary military control. We call on the Russian authorities to act in accordance with their obligations under international humanitarian law,” the message reads.
Brown also noted that the UN will continue to “do everything possible” to help all victims, including those suffering from the consequences of the dam explosion in the Kherson region.
