In Poland, 222 companies were searched regarding the case of grain imports from Ukraine

The Tax Administration of Poland conducted searches in 222 companies and customs offices in connection with the import of Ukrainian grain.

During the searches, financial and accounting documentation, evidence of border checks, as well as business correspondence, media and more than 1,000 tons of grain were seized. This was stated by the spokeswoman of the regional prosecutor’s office in Rzeszów, Hanna Biernat-Ložanska, Rmf24.pl. reports.

More than 800 employees took part in the operation.

The Prosecutor’s Office of Rzeszów added to the investigation the proceedings previously carried out by other prosecutor’s offices in Poland, as well as information prepared by the customs and tax services.

Investigators are investigating all cases of abuse related to the quality of Ukrainian grain, which was imported as technical or industrial, and could be used for the production of food products or animal feed.

According to the spokeswoman of the prosecutor’s office, the importers declared the targeted use of grain for technical needs and expected to avoid checks by the inspectorates that monitor these products.

We will remind you that in May, the European Commission banned the import of Ukrainian wheat, corn, rapeseed and sunflower to Poland, Bulgaria, Romania, Slovakia and Hungary.

Poland expects that the ban on the import of Ukrainian agricultural products will be extended after September 15, and that new items will be added to the list of banned Ukrainian products.

In particular, Warsaw opposes imports, because technical grain was imported into Poland, which was later sold as consumer goods. Polish farmers also suffered from the large flow of Ukrainian grain.
