On Saturday, June 24, the administration of the Black Sea port of Zonguldak (Turkey) received a report about the mining of the Russian cargo ship Azov Forward.
Azov Forward docked at the port on the morning of June 24. The ship with a cargo of ore arrived from Novorossiysk, initially at the Zonguldak anchorage on June 11, Fleetmon notes.
According to reports, a mine or mines were attached to the vessel’s hull. The crew was evacuated, some port workers also left their positions. As of the evening of June 25, no mines were found.
“Divers will continue to examine the ship’s hull under water. During the search, the operation of the port was stopped. Everything that exists in Russia today is a mine threat in one way or another,” writes Fleetmon.
