It is planned to build a grain elevator for 50 thousand tons in the port of Ust-Dunaisk
The new owner of the port of Ust-Dunaisk plans to build a grain elevator for 50 thousand tons in the port.
On January 17, the Vinnytsia company “Elixir Ukraine” became the winner of the auction for the sale of the single property complex “MTP Ust-Dunaisk” on Prozorro.Prodazhi, the State Property Fund reported.
During the auction, the value of the port increased 3.3 times from the starting price to UAH 201 million. Elixir Ukraine has already paid the winning bid + UAH 40 million VAT.
According to the acting port director Oleksandr Popov, the new owner is ready to modernize warehouses and purchase handling equipment, as well as participate in the creation of access roads and a transport interchange, since the port has no rail connection.
In the long term, Elixir Ukraine plans to build a 50,000-ton grain elevator in the port.
Positive changes in the port’s activities have made it attractive for investment. After February 24, 2022, the operation of most seaports was blocked, so the Danube ports got the opportunity to use all their capacities and show their importance to the market participants. In particular, the number of ship calls to Ust-Dunaisk increased from the planned 34 units to over 400.
In January-March, transshipment of the port’s state stevedore increased to 92.9 thousand tons of cargo, against 3.8 thousand tons in the same period last year.
The nomenclature of cargo has shifted towards the export of agricultural products and processing products (meals), which are loaded, taking into account sediment in the port, onto ships with a deadweight of up to 6,000 tons.
In the import direction, the port processes metal, general cargo in big-bags (fertilizers, construction materials, cement, salt). In the 4 months of 2023, the company transferred UAH 12.5 million in taxes and fees to the budget, including UAH 1.7 million in income tax and UAH 6.1 million in dividends.
Today, the process of transferring EMK “MTP Ust-Dunaisk” from the state to the new owner is still ongoing. Currently, the new owner is awaiting approval from the Antimonopoly Committee. Also, the question of returning to the ownership of the port a share of state property (6%), which was illegally appropriated by local shadow authorities, should be resolved in the near future, Popov noted.
