The Navy responded to an alleged attack on Russian ships
The Navy of the Armed Forces of Ukraine declared that they were not involved in the attack on the ships of the invaders, which the Russian Federation claims.
The Russian Ministry of Defense said that on the night of August 1, the ships “Sergei Kotov” and “Vasily Bykov” of the Black Sea Fleet were attacked by “unmanned boats”. The agency claimed that the ships were maneuvering in the Black Sea, 340 km southwest of Sevastopol, where they were “performing navigation control tasks.” The occupiers said that the drone attack was repelled.
At the same time, the spokesman of the Ukrainian Navy, Dmytro Pletenchuk, emphasized that the Ukrainian Armed Forces were not involved in the attack on the ships of the Black Sea Fleet of the Russian Federation. According to the military, Ukraine simply does not have unmanned boats in service, as claimed by the Kremlin.
Previously, the Russian corvette “Sergei Kotov” tried to block shipping between the Bosphorus and Odessa. The occupiers also announced an attack by the Armed Forces on this watercraft in June 2023.
