Shmyhal: Ukraine wants to insure vessels that will travel along the “grain corridor”
Ukraine has insured all merchant vessels that export and import goods through the Danube ports, and is considering the possibility of insuring vessels that will pass through the “grain corridor”.
This plan was shared by Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal at the conference of ambassadors of Ukraine, writes Ukrinform.
“Ukraine has insured all merchant ships that export and import goods through the Danube ports. Now we in the government are discussing and, I am convinced, we will make a decision on insurance of ships and relevant companies that will go along the “grain corridor”, Shmyhal said.
According to him, the risks regarding the Black Sea are obvious.
“It will work once. We understand that if the Russians sink or blow up any merchant ship, it will make it enormously difficult for us to work with our grain corridor partners. Therefore, of course, the support of partners is needed so that this does not happen. But for our part, we insure such risks with the funds of our budget,” the prime minister added.
