The defeated “Olenegorsky Gornyak” lost its combat capability

The Russian ship “Olenegorsky Gornyak” is no longer operational after an attack by a Ukrainian naval drone.

The Russian amphibious assault ship lost its combat capability after being hit by a Ukrainian drone on July 4. This was stated by Dmytro Pletenchuk, a representative of the Navy of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. During the attack, the occupiers’ ship was in Novorossiysk Bay.

Previously, “Olenegorsky Gornyak” was assigned to the Northern Fleet of the Russian Navy. Before the full-scale invasion, Russia moved the ship to the waters of the Black Sea, because it planned to conduct amphibious operations on the southern coast of Ukraine.

Now, after the strike of the surface drone, the occupiers have lost the ship as a combat unit. The Russian Federation again redirected the ship to the Northern Fleet, but “there is confidence that it will not return to the Northern Fleet,” Pletenchuk emphasized.
