The port of Kherson and the port “Olvia” will be merged: they are probably being prepared for liquidation

The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine approved the reorganization of the Kherson Sea Trade Port state enterprise.
SE “Kherson Maritime Transport Port” will be merged with SE “Olvia” stevedoring company, the representative of the government in the Verkhovna Rada Taras Melnychuk said.
“The proposal of the Ministry of Community Development, Territory and Infrastructure regarding the reorganization of the state enterprise Kherson Sea Trade Port by joining it to the state enterprise Olvia Stevedoring Company has been agreed,” the message reads.
It will be recalled that both ports were handed over to a concession even before the beginning of the full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation into Ukraine.
As USM has learned, the merger is likely a step toward liquidating the ports as a single legal entity.
Liquidation was discussed even during the transfer of the ports to the concession, so the Ministry of Community Development, Territory and Infrastructure is currently preparing for the necessary procedure. And the decision of the Cabinet of Ministers can be the first step towards the future liquidation of enterprises.
It should also be noted that the capacities of the enterprises have long been transferred to their concessionaires. For example, the capacity of the port “Olvia” was transferred from the State Enterprise “Olvia Stevedoring Company” to the “Cuterminals Olvia” LLC. The situation is similar in Kherson, where Risoil-Kherson is the concessionaire.
