Defense of the Black Sea is a strategic priority for NATO

Bulgarian Defense Minister Todor Tagarev stated that the defense of the Black Sea is a strategic priority for the North Atlantic Alliance.

“The defense of the Black Sea is a strategic priority for NATO, and the importance and responsibility of the Bulgarian Navy is growing every day,” Tagarev said.

As Novinite writes, he added that over the past decade, the Black Sea has become the site of serious energy projects and growing political and military tensions.

“In connection with the change in the situation, the Alliance in its strategic concept identified the protection of the Black Sea as a priority, as it is extremely important both for security and for the economy, transport and ecology of all member countries of the region,” the minister noted.

According to him, all this increases the role of the Bulgarian Navy and requires both serious investments for their accelerated modernization and close integration with the armed forces of other NATO member states.
