Bulgaria nationalized the oil terminal used by the Russian Federation

Bulgaria nationalized the Rosenets oil terminal. Previously, the port infrastructure belonged to the Russian company Lukoil.

Since September 4, the Rosenetsk oil terminal has been managed by Port Infrastructure State Enterprise, Bulgarian Transport Minister Georgiy Gvozdeikov said. A month ago, the deputies voted for the state to terminate the concession of the terminal to the Russian Lukoil.

Gvozdeikov emphasized that “Lukoil” can seek its rights anywhere, but not in Bulgaria, since Sofia complies with the laws and European regulations.

The warehouses where the fuel is stored will remain under the control of the Russians, but the cargo brought to the port will be controlled by Bulgaria, “Radio Svoboda reports” reports.

At this time, Bulgaria remains the only country in the EU that was allowed to import Rosneft by sea until the end of 2024.

In recent weeks, the government has considered the early termination of Rosneft imports several times. However, currently the Council of Ministers does not say when they will be able to make this decision.
