Ukraine and NATO countries are preparing together to demine the Black Sea
The Navy of the Armed Forces of the Ukrainian stated that international cooperation regarding the demining of Ukrainian waters continues and strengthens.
Last year, the headquarters of the mine action tactical group underwent a mine action planning course. This helped to prepare the personnel for coordinated cooperation, the statement of the Naval Forces of the Ukrainian Armed Forces states.
Thus, as part of the course, the organization of planning, the procedure for analyzing the situation during mine countermeasures operations, the duties of officials, etc., were practiced.
“All this was carried out in accordance with NATO standards, which the Ukrainian army strives to master in full,” the Navy said.
Already in 2023, Ukrainian sailors demonstrated the acquired knowledge in practice. Together with the Standing NATO Mine Countermeasures Group, they planned a training operation to demine a conditional crisis area near the north-eastern coast of Scotland. The headquarters directed the anti-mine forces that carried out the task.
“Now our sailors are continuing their training abroad and are actively preparing for the time when the threat of the Russian occupation fleet will eventually be neutralized, and Ukrainian waters will be cleared of mines. Until then, it is important to achieve full interoperability with our Western partners in accordance with NATO standards,” the agency emphasized.
