Solskyi: The grain agreement has finally lost its relevance

The world is no longer interested in reviving the Black Sea Grain Initiative, which effectively ceased to exist in the summer of 2023.

The Black Sea Initiative in its current form ceased to exist. Already in the summer it was felt that she was not interested in the world. This was stated by the Minister of Agricultural Policy, Mykola Solskyi, APK-Inform reports.

Even last year, parties interested in the Grain Initiative were constantly calling and asking about the terms of his possible visit by the Ukrainian minister. Now, according to Solskyi, “it is impossible to reach them.”

Instead, work on a new Ukrainian maritime corridor is gaining momentum.

“The sea is working, it is very difficult for the Russians to attack ships. In addition, it is more convenient for the military to protect the ports of Great Odesa than the Danube. Thus, seaports are protected 10 times more effectively than the water area of the Danube,” the minister noted.

The work of the Ukrainian corridor can be somewhat slowed down by bad weather at sea – due to the risk of ships encountering drifting mines. In addition, high waves, although they do not create problems for the movement of cargo ships, they are an obstacle for military boats that accompany ships and ensure movement through the sea corridor.
