It is important for Ukraine to return the status of a maritime state, – Danilov
According to Oleksiy Danilov, Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine, Ukraine needs to return to the status of a maritime state and develop in this direction.
Danilov shared this opinion at the Halifax International Security Forum. It is about the restoration of free navigation, the expansion of sea transport connections in the interests of the economy and exports, in particular in the context of ensuring international food security, the development of shipbuilding, and the formation of modern military and merchant fleets.
Also, the Secretary of the National Security Council noted that the primary goal is the de-occupation of the entire territory of Ukraine within the borders of 1991 and protection against the repetition of Russian aggression in the future.
He emphasized that our state is aware of the difference in the goals of Ukraine and certain Western partners regarding Crimea.
“Crimea is Pandora’s box in the sense of illegal annexation of foreign territory. The issue of the return of Crimea is a status issue for the world system, it is a litmus test for the West and a test for Ukraine,” Danilov emphasized.
