The SBU revealed what became the prototype of the Sea Baby drone

During the development of surface drones, Ukrainian military engineers were inspired by Cossack boats.

The prototype of the sea kamikaze drone Sea Baby was a Cossack deckless boat – a seagull. The head of the SBU, Vasyl Malyuk, said this, Ukrinform reports.

“If you look at the Sea Baby, which is moving quickly across the surface of the water mirror, it looks very much like a Cossack boat at this moment. Our ancestors constantly inspire us, and we feel a corresponding genetic connection,” commented the head of the SBU.

The Cossack seagull was quite small compared to the ships. Thanks to this, the Cossack boat successfully performed combat tasks, maneuvering between enemy ships.

Certificate. Chaika is a rowing and sailing boat used by Zaporizhzhya Cossacks in the 16th and 17th centuries. The boat could be up to 22 meters long and up to 4 meters wide. On the outside of the sides, to improve the stability of the boat, a belt made of reeds was attached. Seagulls accommodated up to 70 people. Boats could be armed with 4-6 small guns – falconets.
