The operation of the maritime corridor affected the growth of GDP in Ukraine

In October 2023, GDP growth accelerated to 10.5%. In particular, this was influenced by the stable operation of the Ukrainian maritime corridor.

The growth of GDP in October 2023 compared to October last year is about 10.5% (±2%), according to the Ministry of Economy of Ukraine.

As a result, for January-October of this year, the growth of the economy is estimated at the level of 5.5% compared to the corresponding period last year.

“GDP growth accelerated to 10.5% in October. Positive factors that contributed to the growth of the economy include high yields in agriculture and favorable weather, which ensured high rates of harvesting. The stable situation in the energy sector and the operation of a temporary corridor for the movement of civilian ships to the ports of Greater Odessa also added to the positive,” commented Yuliya Svyridenko, First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy of Ukraine.

As previously reported by USM, before the start of the full-scale war, seaports provided Ukraine with 2% of GDP.
