The icebreaker “Noosfera” has arrived at the Ukrainian Antarctic station
The research icebreaker “Noosfera” reached the station “Akademik Vernadskyi” ahead of schedule.
The vessel arrived at the station overnight on Monday, December 11, according to the National Antarctic Science Center.
The ice breaker reached “Vernadskyi” before the scheduled time. Thanks to the coordinated work of the Polish and Ukrainian teams, as well as good weather, unloading at the Polish “Artstovsky” station took place in a record 3 days.
“In the near future, it is necessary to unload the ship, start repair and other works. The technical team of the seasonal expedition will continue the modernization of the station, which began even before the full-scale war, and the scientific team of the season will conduct additional research,” the science center said.
After the unloading is completed, “Noospfera” will go to Chile to deliver the Polish polar explorers, who are currently on board the icebreaker.
We will remind you that for the third year in a row, instead of a Russian vessel, a Ukrainian vessel provides a shift at the Polish Antarctic station “Artstovskyi”.
