Ukrainian warships are being scrapped in Sevastopol
Captured ships of the Naval Forces of Ukraine are being disposed of in occupied Sevastopol.
The Russians are disposing of the famous Ukrainian minesweeper Cherkasy, “Crimean wind” reports.
As of December 15, the ship was moored at the Vtorchermet shipyard in Inkerman.
The minesweeper was part of the Navy of Ukraine. The Russian invaders were able to capture it only on the night of March 26, 2014. The ship was taken by storm with the help of two Mi-35 helicopters and three boats.
The crew left the ship the next day, heading for mainland Ukraine. Commander Yury Fedash was the last to get off the ship. The Cherkasy city council awarded Fedash the title of honorary citizen of Cherkasy as a sign of gratitude for his actions during the blockade.
