Britain will sign a long-term security agreement with Ukraine with an emphasis on the fleet
Great Britain and Ukraine will sign a 10-year security pact in the coming weeks. As part of the agreement, London will use its naval experience to help Kyiv control the Black Sea.
The upcoming Memorandum of Understanding promises to support Kyiv in its fight against Russia by providing military support, focused on naval assets, as well as financial assistance and intelligence sharing. This is reported by European Pravda with reference to The Telegraph.
The memorandum will also contain promises of post-war “security guarantees” that will deter Russia if it decides to attack again, including increased arms supplies and sanctions.
Within the framework of the Memorandum, the country will focus on strengthening Kyiv’s maritime potential.
Military leaders were impressed by Ukraine’s actions in the Black Sea, where it forced the Russian fleet to retreat. Some of the weapons used by Ukraine, including Brimstone missiles, came from Great Britain, which still has one of the most powerful navies in the world.
The new agreement will build on the recent announcement that Great Britain, together with Norway, will lead the “Coalition of Naval Forces and Assets”, which will transfer two Royal Navy minesweepers to Ukraine.
