Export of grain from the Russian Federation decreased by almost 30%

The volume of grain exports from Russia in December fell by almost 30% compared to last year.

As of December 25, since the beginning of the month, Russia has shipped 3.1 million tons of grain for export. This is 27.5% less than in the same period last year, reports rosZMI with reference to the “Russian Grain Union”.

The main part of the export was wheat (2.605 million tons). Shipment volumes of this grain decreased by 31% compared to last year. Barley exports also decreased by 7.5% (to 150,000 tons).

Grain was exported through 20 ports against 24 last year. At the same time, the volume of shipments in the Black Sea ports decreased significantly. For example, shipments through the port of Novorossiysk decreased by 16%, transit fell by more than half. The decrease was 22% in Azov, 18% in Rostov-on-Don, and 42% in Taman.

In general, Russians plan to ship about 3.85 million tons of major grain crops in December, which is 26% less than last year, when this figure was 5.2 million tons.
