Turkey is investing in the port infrastructure of Ukraine
Turkey has offered assistance in the development of maritime logistics and infrastructure of Ukraine.
At a meeting in Istanbul on January 31, Ukraine and Turkey discussed practical steps to involve Turkish business in the reconstruction of Ukrainian ports. This was reported in the press service of the Ministry of Reconstruction of Ukraine.
“We see the willingness of companies to invest in the development of maritime logistics and infrastructure. Also roads. Turkish business has extensive experience, in particular in the construction of the Zaporizhia and Kremenchug bridges, and has proven itself as a reliable partner. We are also ready to cooperate in case of resumption of air traffic,” said the Minister of Community Development, Territories and Infrastructure of Ukraine, Oleksandr Kubrakov.
The minister emphasized that such cooperation will contribute to increasing the export potential of both countries, expanding logistics and foreign economic ties. So, the countries have already created a joint working group on reconstruction (Ukrainian-Turkish Reconstruction Task Force).
Among the priority areas of cooperation between the two countries:
• restoration of road infrastructure and construction of temporary bridges and overpasses on key routes;
• projects for restoration and development of water transport infrastructure;
• protection of critical infrastructure and restoration of housing;
• restoration of air traffic.
It will be recalled that at this meeting the parties determined the last steps for the entry into force of the Free Trade Agreement.
Also, Turkey promised to introduce sanctions against Russian ships heading to Turkish ports from the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine.
