Companies illegally trading in Russian oil were sanctioned
The United States introduced new sanctions against a network of international companies involved in Rosneft smuggling.
The US Department of the Treasury’s Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) imposed sanctions against 4 companies. Violations were committed by enterprises located in the UAE and Liberia, Ukrinform reports.
OFAC also blocked one vessel involved in the criminal scheme for use.
The network was involved in an illegal scheme that sold Russian crude at a price of $80 per barrel.
It will be recalled that from February 20, Japan and the G7 countries plan to tighten the rules on limiting prices for Russian oil imports.
Previously, USM wrote that Russian oil enters the United States through a loophole in the Bahamas.
