Sweden will hand over 30 landing craft for the Armed Forces
Sweden announced a record package of military aid to Ukraine in the amount of 683 million dollars.
Sweden announced the 15th aid package for Ukraine. Currently, it is the largest in the country — 683 million dollars. This was announced by the Minister of Defense of Sweden, Paul Johnson.
In particular, Sweden will hand over 20 landing craft, 10 “Stridsbåt 90” amphibious assault craft and underwater equipment to Ukraine.
The country will also provide the RBS70 air defense system, artillery ammunition, anti-tank missiles, hand grenades and Carl Gustaf grenade launchers for the Armed Forces.
“Russia’s war against Ukraine is also a war against the rules-based order. Ukraine defends not only its own freedom, but also the freedom of the whole of Europe. Sweden will support Ukraine as long as necessary. We cannot allow Russia to win this war,” commented Paul Johnson.
At the same time, Sweden will allocate another 96 million dollars to a joint fund with Denmark, which purchases CV90 infantry fighting vehicles for Ukraine.
The new support package is coordinated with coalitions of military potential within the Contact Group on Defense of Ukraine and addresses some of Ukraine’s most pressing needs.
USM recently wrote that Norway will provide Ukraine small boats and conduct a course for marines.
Before that, Great Britain agreed to hand over 23 high-speed boats for the Navy of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
