Denmark will help Ukraine build up its maritime fleet


Within the framework of the security agreement, the countries confirmed their support for the development of the naval fleet of Ukraine.

This was announced by the Deputy Head of the Office of the President Ihor Zhovkva.

On Friday, February 23, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Prime Minister of Denmark Mette Frederiksen signed the Agreement on Security Cooperation and Long-Term Support between Ukraine and Denmark.

Thus, in 2024, Denmark’s military support will amount to at least 1.8 billion euros. In addition, the Danish Fund for the Support of Ukraine allocated 8.5 billion euros for the current support of our state in 2023-2028.

“In addition, support for the development of Ukraine’s naval fleet, demining efforts, as well as Denmark’s provision of high-tech military assistance were confirmed,” the message reads.

Denmark will continue to provide support to Ukraine during the ten-year term of this Agreement and with the possibility of its extension by agreement of the parties.

As previously reported by USM, in 2023 the Naval Forces of Ukraine received autonomous hydrographic complexes from the government of the Kingdom of Denmark.
