The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Poland: those responsible for spilling Ukrainian grain will be caught
The Minister of Internal Affairs of Poland acknowledged the destruction of loads of Ukrainian grain by Polish protesters as a crime.
Spilling grain from transport is unacceptable. The police respond to every such case and catch the culprits, because it is simply a crime, the head of the Polish Navy, Marcin Kerwinski said.
It will be recalled that from February 12 to 25, Polish protesters on the border with Ukraine repeatedly dumped transit grain from blocked trucks. As a result of these actions, up to 180,000 tons of grain were destroyed.
The first offenders who spilled Ukrainian grain from grain trucks on the border with Poland have already appeared in court. They face up to 5 years in prison
The Polish protests come amid farmers’ strikes across Europe. Farmers demand that the EU abandon the “green agreement”, which, in their opinion, will lead to a decrease in the profitability of agricultural production.
In Poland, in addition to this demand, there are calls to close the border with Ukraine in order to prevent the import of cheap food and agricultural products to the Polish market. Representatives of far-right and pro-Russian parties are actively inciting the protests.
It should be noted that, according to the agreement with the Polish government, Ukraine does not import grain to Poland — the cargo passes through the country to Western Europe.
