Russia plans to protect the Black Sea Fleet from Ukrainian attacks
The Ministry of Defense of the aggressor country plans to protect the Black Sea Fleet from Ukrainian strikes.
The Russian Ministry of Defense intends to protect the military fleet and has probably changed the commander of the Russian Black Sea Fleet for this purpose, according to a report by the Institute for the Study of War (ISW).
According to analysts, the head of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation, Serhiy Shoigu, can take credit for improving the efficiency of the defense of the fleet. Or the head of the department can blame other commanders if the fleet is not sufficiently protected.
Due to the attacks by the Armed Forces, the Russians were forced to redeploy most of the ships of the Black Sea Fleet from the main base in Sevastopol to smaller and less combat-capable bases in Novorossiysk and other locations.
According to experts, Shoigu visited the command post of the Black Sea Fleet in Sevastopol. There he received reports on Ukrainian operations and the effectiveness of the Black Sea Fleet. Shoigu stressed that the navy should carry out daily exercises to repel strikes, and also ordered additional weapons to be installed at unspecified targets.
Shoigu also heard a report by Russian Vice-Admiral Serhiy Pinchuk, who is said to have replaced Admiral Viktor Sokolov as commander of the Black Sea Fleet.
USM previously reported that the International Criminal Court in The Hague issued an arrest warrant for Viktor Sokolov, commander of the Russian Black Sea Fleet.
It will be recalled that the SBU reported the suspicion to the Russian generals, who ordered the “grain corridor” to be replaced.
