Ukraine lost up to $400 million due to the border blockade

Only in February, Ukraine lost almost half a billion dollars due to the blockade of the border by Polish protesters.

In February, the resumption of the blockade of the western borders had a greater impact on the import of goods by Ukraine, according to the report of the National Bank “Macroeconomic and Monetary Review, April 2024”.

According to NBU estimates, import losses amounted to $350-400 million in February. Purchases of food products, industrial products and wood decreased the most.

Instead, the import of petroleum products and individual chemical products increased significantly.

Physical volumes of grain exports in February were the highest since the beginning of the full-scale invasion.

The export of MMC products decreased. Given that these shipments are focused on Asian markets, the decline may be caused by the crisis in the Red Sea and the weakening of demand from China.

Earlier, USM reported that the Ministry of Agriculture of Poland reached agreements with the protesting farmers and the Ukrainian side.
