It is financially difficult for the Italian government to maintain the frozen assets of the Russian Federation
Italian authorities are currently unable to sell the frozen assets of Putin’s henchmen worth 2.3 billion euros due to financial and legal difficulties.
The Italian authorities continue to hold frozen assets of the Russian Federation worth about 2.3 billion euros. The country’s government is suffering due to lawsuits from the Russians and expensive asset maintenance, France 24 reports.
We are talking about at least 7 Russian yachts that are stuck in Italian ports due to EU sanctions. All costs for maintenance, repairs and parking fell on the shoulders of the Italian government.
According to the lawyers of the Russian owners, these vessels cannot be confiscated and were resold to other owners due to alleged violations of ownership rights. Currently, the assets themselves have the status of frozen, but not confiscated.
Also among the frozen assets are private planes and luxurious villas of Russian oligarchs.
