A ship that arrived from the Russian Federation is on fire in the port of Israel (video)
The fire broke out in the engine room due to equipment malfunction and non-compliance with fire safety rules.
On June 10, the Turkish cargo ship “Yaf Horizon” caught fire in the Israeli port of Haifa. The ship arrived from Novorossiysk with a cargo of metal products, Maritime Executive writes.
According to reports, the fire started in the engine room. Before that, the 15-year-old vessel had a long history of deficiencies recorded by the state port control inspection. In particular, problems with fire dampers and malfunctioning fire alarms were repeatedly discussed.
On the way from Russia, the ship’s AIS data was artificially disrupted twice with the help of GPS spoofing. The first time, according to AIS data, the ship “moved” to the Simferopol airport, the second time — the ship’s position was transmitted as if it were at the Beirut airport. Usually, in this way, the Russians try to hide the fact that the ship entered the ports of the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine.
Recently, USM wrote that the Russian Federation falsified the AIS data of more than 80 vessels in order to violate sanctions.
