Egypt does not contract wheat with the Russian Federation for the second tender in a row

Instead, Egyptian buyers refocused on purchasing grain of Ukrainian, Romanian and Bulgarian origin.

Egypt’s Food Procurement Agency (GASC) contracted 460,000 tons of wheat with immediate payment at a tender on June 11. “APK-Inform” writes about this.

In particular, the country ordered 180,000 tons of grain from Romania in batches of 60,000 tons each with a delivery date of August 1-10. The cost of grain is $269.65 per ton C&F. Wheat was ordered from operators CHS, AMS Ameropa and LDC. Egypt bought another 60,000 tons of grain from AMS Ameropa at the same price for delivery on August 11-20.

GASC also contracted 120,000 tons of wheat of Ukrainian origin (two batches) with a delivery date of August 11-20. LDC and ADM were also listed as operators. The cost of each lot was $269.65 per ton of C&F.

The country purchased two more batches of grain (50,000 tons each) from Bulgaria. The grain was contracted to Buildcom and Cargill at $264.95 per ton C&F for August 1-10 delivery.

The tender offered wheat from the Russian Federation ($265-270 FOB) and from France ($258.47-265 FOB). However, Egypt refused to buy these goods.

A week earlier, GASC bought 420,000 tons of wheat from Romania, Ukraine, France and Bulgaria. There were offers of Russian wheat at the tender, which cost less, but GASC did not accept any of them.
