Poland will help detect tankers of the “shadow fleet” of the Russian Federation in the Baltic Sea
Poland will help allies detect tankers of the so-called “shadow fleet” of the Russian Federation in the Baltic Sea.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Poland reported on the social network X that the country will help identify vessels illegally transporting Russian oil in the region.
“During the meeting of the Council of the Baltic Sea States, Minister Radoslav Sikorsky declared Poland’s assistance in identifying vessels of the shadow fleet, which, by transporting Russian products, mainly oil, circumvent the sanctions imposed on Russia,” the message reads.
The department noted that, according to estimates, the number of such vessels reaches hundreds of units, but few of them have been identified to date.
Previously, USM reported that the Russian “shadow fleet” is harming the environment due to cheap fuel.
