African countries received grain from the state warehouses of Ukraine

Three African countries received food aid directly from the Ukrainian government, from state warehouses.

Ethiopia, Somalia and Nigeria received grain from the government of Ukraine, which was stored in state warehouses as reserve products, said the deputy director of the UN WFP Marianna Ward in an interview with “Interfax-Ukraine”.

The Government of Ukraine purchased this grain and transferred a total of 35,000 tons to the three states.

Currently, within the framework of the Grain from Ukraine program, Ukraine together with the UN WFP have 15 recipient countries, including Ethiopia, Somalia, Kenya, Yemen, Sudan, Malaysia, Mauritania, Palestine and others. Recently, Tanzania and Zambia were added to the list.

Almost 200,000 tons of products worth $275 million have already been sent from Ukraine to needy countries.

Previously, USM reported that since the beginning of the Grain from Ukraine humanitarian initiative, 25 vessels with food for countries in need have left Ukraine.

Ukraine also recently delivered wheat flour to Palestine within the framework of the Grain from Ukraine humanitarian program.
