Egypt plans to purchase grain from the Russian Federation through direct deliveries

The State Agency for Food Procurement of Egypt (GASC) is negotiating the purchase of large batches of wheat from the Russian Federation without holding international tenders.

This was reported by UkrAgroConsult with reference to Reuters. In general, up to 30 batches of 50-60 thousand tons each are expected to be delivered. We are talking about Russian wheat, but it is still unclear whether products from other countries are being considered.

One of Reuters’ sources suggested that the United Grain Company (UZC) and Demetra Holding could provide Russian wheat as part of possible agreements.

Earlier it became known that GASC contracted only 280,000 tons of Ukrainian and Bulgarian wheat based on the results of the last tender, although the initially announced volume was the largest – 3.8 million tons.

Previously, USM reported that Egypt purchased Ukrainian wheat at a tender and refused Russian wheat.
