Since April, 35,000 TEUs have been processed in the Chornomorsk port

Since the beginning of April 2024, the Chornomorsk Rybport has already received 46 container ships and processed 35 thousand TEU.

This became known during the event “Expert Talks: results, pitfalls and new horizons of container communication” by Global Ocean Link and the European Business Association.

Speaker Serhiy Kurushyn, who represents the Black Sea Fish Port, shared the results of the container lines.

“The shipping company Iteris was the first (since the beginning of the full-scale war) to launch the container service on the open water.” In particular, we cooperate with partners Maersk, CMA CGM, MSC. The latter was the first to deliver its own vessel – and this is also a big step, in my opinion,” said the representative of the port Serhiy Kurushyn.

According to him, it is expected that other companies will also join container transportation to Ukraine. This, in turn, will affect the improvement of cargo flows.

“Probably terminals are in second place in this logistics chain. To date, we have done approximately 35,000 TEUs since April, and we all understand that these numbers are not at all the figures that could be done without stress in 2021. But the numbers are there, the numbers are growing, and we will hope that they will continue to grow,” the speaker emphasized.

Currently, there are three vessels left in operation at the port (previously there were five).

“Small vessels left, but a large 1,800 TEU vessel was added. Now the circulation of containers at the terminal will change a little, it will be simplified, since there is quite a lot of cargo that small steamers could not handle. We also expect that the geography of container transportation will also change,” Serhii Kurushyn explained.

He also noted that both carriers and ship operators, forwarders, and port employees are behind this work.

Earlier, USM reported that the container ship MSC had arrived in Odesa port.
