Another pollution moves down the river Seim


In some places, the level of chemical oxygen consumption in the river exceeds the norm by 4.3 times.

Repeated pollution is observed on the Seim River. This was reported in the press service of the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Natural Resources of Ukraine.

Water is cloudy in Mutyn village and Ozarychi village in Sumy region, and the level of chemical oxygen consumption exceeds the norm by 4.3 times. There is no dissolved oxygen.

In the city of Baturyn, darkening of the water is observed, a slight specific smell is observed, and fish plague is not observed. Chemical consumption of oxygen exceeds the norm by 1.1 times. The oxygen regime is normal. The level of manganese is exceeded up to 1.3 times. Excesses in the content of ammonium nitrogen, total iron, nitrites, phosphates and chlorides were not recorded.

The improvement is recorded at the point of the village of Chumakove. The water becomes clearer, but still has a yellow-green tint, in some places it is grayish.

Further downstream, the water quality indicators did not change during the day. The water is clear, there is practically no sediment at the bottom, no unpleasant smell, and no fish plague is observed.

The observed situation on the Desna River is stabilizing. Within the entire Chernihiv region, the water has become lighter, in some places the sediment is dark in color at the bottom. Unpleasant smell and fish plague are not observed. Biological resources are restored in the river. The movement of pollution in Kyiv region is not recorded.

Previously, USM wrote that it would take 2 to 3 years to restore the ecosystem of the poisoned river.
