Water quality in the river Seim in Chernihiv region is deteriorating


In some places, the indicator of chemical oxygen consumption exceeds the norm by three times.

As of September 26, deterioration of water quality in the Seym River is observed in Chernihiv region. This was reported in the press service of the Ministry of Environment.

In the city of Baturyn, a significant excess of chemical oxygen consumption was recorded – 3.2 times more than the norm. In Dolynske, this indicator increased from 71 to 81 milligrams per cubic decimeter, which is 2.7 times higher than the norm.

According to the results of research on water from the Desna River in the Chernihiv region, the level of dissolved oxygen is within the normal range, but in the area near the village of Velike Ustya, it decreased to 2.51 milligrams per cubic decimeter. An excess of chemical oxygen consumption was also recorded in the section from the village of Velike Ustya to the village of Maksaki — 38-50 milligrams per cubic decimeter.

On the river Seim in the Sumy region, there is an improvement in water quality in the area of ​​Chumakove village. The chemical consumption of oxygen decreased to normative indicators from 43.2 to 28.4 milligrams per cubic decimeter at the norm of 30 milligrams.

Water samples of the Seim and Desna rivers in the Sumy and Chernihiv regions did not reveal exceedances of environmental standards for the content of pesticides, volatile organic compounds and heavy metals.

Pollution is not observed in the Kyiv region. The quality of water in the places of water intakes of Kyiv and Brovary meets the standards, stabilization of indicators is recorded. The level of dissolved oxygen in all samples remains within the normal range.

The day before, USM wrote that another pollution is moving along the River Seim. The worst indicators were observed in Sumy region.
