The German rapeseed processing giant opened a representative office in Ukraine

Getreide AG, one of the leading rapeseed processors in Germany, has officially opened its representative office in Ukraine.

At the beginning of October, the German company Getreide AG opened its division in Ukraine, reports Latifundist. 

According to the data of the analytical system YouControl, the Ukrainian branch — Getreide AG Ukraine — was registered as early as March 2024.

During the presentation of the new office, the company’s operations director Torsten Tiedemann emphasized that the opening of the branch was a necessary step due to the blockade of the Black Sea ports after the start of the war. This decision allowed Getreide AG to continue working with Ukrainian farmers, buying rapeseed from them and exporting it to its factory in Rostock. In addition, the company is considering new business opportunities in Ukraine, in particular, it has already started working with sunflower oil.

Getreide AG Ukraine is also the exclusive representative of the Bulgarian company Astra Bioplant, which specializes in the production of vegetable oils, biodiesel and other products. As part of this cooperation, the company purchases sunflower oil in Ukraine to be sent to processing facilities in Bulgaria.

The Ukrainian office was headed by Bjorn Stendel, who previously worked in several well-known agricultural companies, including Allseeds Group and Viterra Ukraine LLC. Konstantin Taranov became responsible for trading in Ukraine. Currently, the team in Ukraine consists of five people.

Tiedemann emphasized the importance of supporting Ukraine not only with weapons and finances, but also through the development of economic cooperation, which will contribute to the European integration of the country. According to company representatives, it is also important to change approaches to doing business and contractual relations to meet European standards.

Since the start of the 2024/2025 marketing year, Getreide AG has already shipped over 130,000 tonnes of rapeseed. The company’s main partners in Ukraine are leading agricultural holdings, including MHP, Eridon, Astarta, Vilia and Nibulon.
