Insurance of ships to the ports of Ukraine has become more expensive

As a result of Russian attacks on Ukrainian port infrastructure, the price of ship insurance has increased.

Over the course of a week, the price of insurance for vessels traveling through the Ukrainian maritime corridor in the Black Sea has increased to 1% of the vessel’s value.

This is 0.75% more than last week.

According to market participants, insuring a vessel worth $50 million costs $125,000 per voyage.

One of the brokers said that after the latest attacks, traders became more interested in insuring their cargoes, which are insured separately from the ships themselves.

“There have been new requests from customers for military risk insurance in Ukraine, and these are the customers to whom we previously offered this coverage, but they were not interested,” said Maksym Dubovy, co-owner of the insurance company Atria Insurance Brokers.

Previously, USM reported that over the past three months, Russian forces have carried out almost 60 attacks on the port infrastructure of Ukraine.
